COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS

Community Corrections is a community-based program with the purpose of providing offenders of non-violent crimes a diversion from commitment to the County Jail. The purpose of community correction services is to provide alternatives to incarceration at the local levels for offenders referred by Monroe County Department of Probation. Community Corrections provides opportunities for court-ordered clients to complete community service hours within the community, allowing them to make positive contributions. It’s also more cost effective than incarcerating offenders, and it gives the offender an opportunity to receive the assistance they need (including workforce development, substance abuse programs, financial literacy programs, etc.) to become a productive member of society in their own community.
