COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS

Community Corrections is a community-based program that provides diversions from commitment to the County Jail to offenders of non-violent crimes referred by the Monroe County Department of Probation. Community Corrections creates opportunities for court-ordered clients to complete community service hours within the community, allowing them to make positive contributions. Not only is it more cost-effective than incarcerating offenders, but it gives them the chance to receive the assistance they need (including workforce development, substance abuse programs, financial literacy programs, etc.) to become productive members of society in their own communities.
